International Art Appreciation Day

Instructions
Allow 20-30 minutes for this activity.
Give everyone a piece of paper and access to coloured pencils.
Read out the 7 instructions in bold
Once participants have completed their drawing, tell them that it`s time to add a few things up
Read out the sentences in italics.
Award prizes to all participants and discuss what it means to appreciate art!
1. First, draw a picture of a house
Award 5 points if the house is bigger than your hand.
Award 10 points if you drew a chimney on your house.
Award 10 points if you have a door.
Award 25 points if you have a doorknob – you did want to be able to get in, didn`t you?
2. It is a night in our picture, and there is a moon out, so draw a moon in your sky.
Award 10 points if you drew a crescent moon.
Award 25 points if you drew a full moon.
3. Now, draw some candles in your windows. You do have windows in your house, don`t you?
Award 10 points for each candle you drew.
Award 5 points for each candlestick you drew.
Award 15 points for each candle you drew that is yellow, white or red.
4. Every house needs a flower garden, so draw some flowers.
Award 5 points for every flower you drew in your garden.
5. Then, draw an apple tree by the house. There is a worm in one of the apples; draw it sticking its head out of an apple.
Award 10 points fi the tree is on the right side of the house
Award 5 points if the tree is touching the house at all.
Award 5 points for each apple you drew.
6. Draw a bird in your picture so that you can enjoy its beautiful song.
Award 10 points if you drew a beak on your bird.
Award 25 points if you drew a parrot or canary.
7. Now sign your picture and you are done
Award 25 points if you signed your first and last name
Award 25 extra points if you signed your middle name or initial.
Award 25 points if you signed your name in the bottom right corner.
